Perl related notes re: David Dyck
I remember seeing Larry's perl1 and perl2 postings in comp.sources.unix, but got into perl3 when I wanted a little more out of awk than it could deliver.
Thanks to a2p (the Awk to Perl translator) I was able to generate my first perl script, and I was much happier.
I spent a lot of time working with perl4 (including linking to my own C functions with "mus" )
perl4 was good enough for much of my work, that I didn't bother to learn most of perl5's new features.
Now I try to keep up to date with perl-current (5.9.0), and I'm only following perl6 from the sidelines.
I've only been to one SPUG meeting due to schedule and time conflicts, but I have contributed to the mailing list from time to time for the past few years. I've also contributed a few patches to perl, so my name is mentioned in the AUTHORS file - my email address is there too. (So I hope SPUG continues even if only in a virtual sense)
Here's my submission to FavoritePerlScripts: FavoritePerlScriptsOfDavidDyck
